Can someone explain the difference between T1 and T2 images in MRI?

Can someone explain the difference between T1 and T2 images and also possible examples of when you would use?

The difference between T1 and T2 weighted MRI images is due to density of fluids. Water is seen to be white on T2 weighted images whereas in T1 weighted images it appears dark. The 2 types of MRI scans help to differentiate between abnormalities in
